A super-matte, open-pore veneer palette — engineered to read as solid timber and to hold its depth under Gulf light and heat. Every tone is available across our door, wall, cabinetry and wardrobe lines, and can be matched bespoke to a designer's reference.
The finish is absorbed into the veneer, not laid over it. There is no film between the hand and the timber — what you touch is wood, and what you see is its true colour, never a sprayed or printed imitation.
Pores are left open rather than filled and buried. The grain keeps its depth and direction, catching light the way solid timber does — tactile under the hand, honest to the eye.
Gloss is held below two units. The surface absorbs light instead of bouncing it — no glare across a lobby, no plastic sheen under downlights, only quiet, even depth.
Like fine furniture, the finish is made to deepen and mellow over years of use — developing a quiet patina rather than peeling, yellowing or wearing thin. A surface that earns its luxury with time.
Built on water-based, low-VOC coatings and FSC-controlled timber, and certified to E0 / E1, F★★★★ (Japan), CARB P2 / TSCA (USA) and RoHS — clean enough for enclosed hotel interiors and demanding indoor-air targets, without compromising the depth of the finish.
Every leaf of KENT veneer is sliced to 0.6 mm from a single selected log. Because consecutive leaves come off the same flitch, they share one continuous grain — so we hand-select and sequence-match them, book-match and slip-match, until a door, the wall beside it and the cabinetry around it read as one piece of timber.
The cut sets the figure: crown slicing draws the cathedral arches of the heartwood, while quarter and rift cuts give long, calm, straight lines. Finished open-pore, the surface keeps the wood's real texture — grain you feel rather than a film of lacquer — before eight grain passes and twenty-three surface processes bring it to a sub-2 GU super-matte depth that ages with grace.
The Milano Colour System is anchored by four signature finishes — each a full open-pore, super-matte build. They are the reference points; the wider collection and bespoke matching extend from them.

Request a matched sample→Wood veneer in open-pore matte is the KENT signature. Figured-wood high-gloss, solid-colour lacquer, melamine, metal, fabric, leather and woven rattan complete the palette — each specified to the professional standard below.
Natural wood veneer finished open-pore, so the grain stays visible and tactile. Gloss is held in the super-matte band — under 2 GU on a 0–100 scale — using water-based, low-VOC coatings that scatter light and hide fingerprints. This is the KENT house standard.
Burl, crotch and figured veneers under a closed-pore, high-gloss build. The pores are filled and the surface is polished flat — typically three to five coats — to a mirror, piano-gloss reflection of 90 GU and above. Veneer matching is exacting, because gloss reveals every seam.
Opaque pigmented lacquer that conceals the grain entirely, matched to any RAL, NCS or BS reference. Two-pack polyurethane gives durable, UV-stable colour for high-traffic work; acrylic stays bright and non-yellowing; polyester builds the deepest mirror gloss. Any sheen from dead-matte to full gloss.
Decorative melamine — TFL, where décor paper is thermally fused to an MDF or particleboard core. Thousands of woodgrain, solid, stone and textured decors, with gloss and emboss set by the press plate. For high-wear surfaces we specify HPL, which is denser and more impact- and scratch-resistant, with fire-rated grades available.
PVD-coated stainless steel and solid brass or bronze, used as inlays, frames, feature panels and hardware. PVD bonds colour molecularly — champagne, gold, rose-gold, bronze, gunmetal and black — over mirror (No.8), brushed-satin (No.4) or hairline (No.6) bases. Scratch- and corrosion-resistant, with colour stable for around fifteen years.
Upholstered and fabric-wrapped panels — linen, wool, velvet and woven textiles over an acoustic core. Used for headboards, feature walls and wardrobe inserts, with flame-retardant fabrics specified for hospitality and contract work.
Full- and top-grain upholstery leather, hand-stitched over padded panels and door faces. Wrapped detailing, piping and recessed pulls give a tailored, tactile surface for headboards, dressing rooms and feature joinery.
Pre-woven natural strand cane — the outer skin of the rattan vine — set into solid-wood or metal frames. Available in square radio weave or open mesh, natural or bleached white. Light, breathable and renewable, it suits cabinet fronts, screens, dividers and headboards; a sealing coat is added for humid climates.
Wood veneer matte is the house standard; all other categories are specified per project. Samples available in any category.
