3D relief & texture that catches the light

Depth and shadow worked into the surface, not printed onto it.
Overview

Texture is light management — relief turns a flat surface into shadow and depth.

Relief and texture give a surface depth that flat finishes cannot. KENT carves linenfold and figurative panels, recesses coffered grids, profiles fluted and ribbed fields, and wire-brushes timber to raise its grain — so the same wood reads differently as the light moves across it. The work runs across doors, feature walls and ceilings, in solid timber or veneered panel, and can be left natural, stained or part-gilded to lift the highlights.

Carved & coffered depth

Linenfold and figurative carving and recessed coffered grids add real, three-dimensional depth — shadow lines that change through the day.

Tactile surface texture

Beyond carving, surface texture changes how a finish feels and reflects — wire-brushing raises the grain for a tactile, open surface that can be left natural or part-gilded.

FAQ

Questions specifiers ask

Is the relief carved or printed?+
Carved or profiled into the material for real, three-dimensional depth — not a printed or embossed effect.
What does wire-brushing do?+
It removes softer grain to raise the harder grain, giving a tactile, open-grain surface that catches light.
Can relief be gilded?+
Yes — highlights can be part-gilded to lift the raised areas; see Gold Leaf & Gilding.
