How to Replace inerior door hinges?

January 8, 2008 – 10:30 pm

I`d like to replace the two 3-5/8″, 5 loop butt hinges on an interior door with double-action swing hinges. I`d like to shut my door, but my cat likes to go in and go out usually.

The door is very usually, you can find many these styles in many house.

I`d like to know how difficult would it be done? Can the pressure required to open the door be adjusted?

Answer:

I have this problem and simply replaced one of the hinges with a spring loaded self closing hinge. These have adjustable tension and with lightweight hollow interior doors will not cause the door to latch, but to close enough to control heat/cold from moving from room to room and to control noise.

Your cats will smart enought to figure out these by theirself.

How to repair my wood door?

January 8, 2008 – 12:56 am

I have a interior wood door, it`s veneer is now only 2/3 left.

The interior is a wood particle and falls off every time it rains.

I’ve been thinking about putting a new veneer on it or a very thin sheet of metal. What is the best way to repair the door without replacing?

Answer:

You should paint your door, try to find the same paint color that match with your interior wood door and paint or staint it to make it no noticeable.
