What is the best paint for the steel door?

What is the best paint for the steel door?

I have cheacked at rustoleum oil-based, but I’m still not that familiar with steel material. So can any one assist me to let me know what is the durability of paint. Frequency of rusting?

Answer:

You can use the rustoleum primer and spray paint for metal. I think the metal wont be rusted into two years.

Of course, it can keep not rust only as long as the surface not gouged or scratched.Once the seal is broken and the metal exposed and moisture gets to the bare steel, that is when you will have to touch up to prevent rust. But that is the good thing about the rustoleum, it inhibits rust and stops any existing rust.

How can I teak wood door protect the sun and rain?

January 15, 2008 – 3:17 am

I buy a teak wood door for my house. I like the normal teak wood color but how ever I am still afraid that the teak will be detoriarated with hot sun or rain.

Any one can give me an advise?

Answer:

For the good seasoned teak wood will not need any protection. But I still sugguet you use Melamine Polish which come in 2 varieties 1. glossy and 2. Matt finishes.

You can choose which ever you like. Better choose to spray the polish on 2 coats of hand polish over perfect sand papering. If you give this work to any painter or polisher in India it may cost you Rs. 50 per Sq Feet.
This polish is protective from both sun and rain for years.
The other is PU coat which is not done in most of the places in India which even costs more may be 150 to 200 per sft so pls chk with the local guy.
Better go with the melamine polish.

How to remove stainless steel front door?

January 10, 2008 – 1:46 am

I want your suggestion on removing the paint from the stainless steel front door.

Answer:

Is it the paint original? If it is, the paint is braked on. So if you would like to repeating it,please sand lightly to roughen the surface then repeating it.

If you are changing the paint radically, I would advise a primer first.

How to paint a steel door best?

January 10, 2008 – 1:27 am

I want to paint my front steel door, there are some rectangular inserts.

So I am wondering whether a roller or a brush or something else would be helpful for the smoothest solution.

Yes, the door is alerady painted white.Do I still need a primer? Do I still need metal paint?

Would spray-paint (in a can) work?
I’m kind of looking for an easy way out…

Answer:

You will need 4 things:
Color matched metal Primer (Home Depot) [choose a color close to the final color you intend white->white brown->black]
Painters Tape (HD) [before starting tape out anything you dont want painted, do not rely on your steady hands, it will look something awful]
Metal Paint (Paint Store) [home depot will have general exterior paint but this is designed to soak into wood, its not exactly what you need, although over a primed surface it will sorta work.
Paint Sprayer or Roller and touch up brush (HD) (if you roll the paint on you will need 3 careful applicantions, if you spray it on 2, but then a sprayer will set you back $150, hand painting is also an option, use 3 thin layers and you will achieve an even coat that look very proffesional)

Its already painted…?

You need to asses the quality of the paint job. if it is peeling and has rust on it then you need to strip the paint first using something like a kerosene based paint remover. If it is not and the paint looks fine and you want to change colors, well go ahead and paint it using the method above without the primer.

Will Spray Pain work?
Yeah, spray paint will work, go to www.duplicolor.com and pick out a metal enamel and use that. I do not recomend using the outdoor paint they have. No matter what you do it will not look good. Spraypaint is not the right stuff for a job that is a front door to a house, but if you dont care what your house looks like, go ahead spray paint away, use 3 thin applications for a “fresh off the Honda Civic garage” look.

How can faux wood finish a steel door?

January 7, 2008 – 1:33 am

I just brought a new steel door recently. And my friends said that saw a steel door that was faux finish to look wood.

Now I also hear a lot of people talking about paint on steel door really peels.

Can you tell me how to do it?

Answer:

Yes, you can do it. First you should need a faux graining tool.It is a rubber, I believe, maybe plastic, curved piece with a handle. You apply either paint or stain with it. You randomly rock the the tool back and forth to create the effect of wood. You may want to practice on a scrap piece of painted drywall or plywood, first. Then let dry completely. Needless to say, don’t wipe the stain off. You may want to use an under coat of paint to create a deeper effect. Probably lighter than the faux finish. Also important use a spray on polyurethane to seal. I usually suggest varnish, but any brush work after the finish will pull the finish off or at least distort it.

I suggest you go to the store, they will give you some professional idea.
